The Customs Broker Modernization Regulations, which took effect Dec. 19, include a requirement for a customs broker to notify Customs and Border Protection (CBP) when the customs broker separates from a client that is intentionally attempting to defraud the U.S. government or commit any criminal act against the U.S. government.

“This regulation may have future implications for importers of nail products containing toluene that are sold in California,” Customs and Border Protection (CBP) said in a Feb. 13 message. “Manufacturers have the principal duty to comply with this regulation by notifying DTSC if their nail products sold in California contain toluene.”
