NCBFAA Educational Institute

The NCBFAA Educational Institute (NEI) is dedicated to providing educational opportunities to the members of NCBFAA & the larger trade community in the areas of international trade, supply chain management, global logistics, customs brokerage, export transactions, transportation, attendant government regulation, and those areas of knowledge necessary to manage or advance a career path in a business providing services to those sectors.

Mission Statement

The NCBFAA Educational Institute provides flexible, relevant educational opportunities to members of the NCBFAA, larger trade community, and next generation industry entrants to strengthen regulatory compliance in the cross-border trade realm and increase professionalism for individuals who desire to begin or advance a career in the industry.

The NCBFAA Educational Institute (NEI) is the premier educational institute for providing industry focused training for our professional individual members and the international trade community. We offer two foundational designations and two advanced designations specifically for importing and exporting.

The NCBFAA's Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) Certification Program is designed to assist trade professionals involved in the import industry to become experts in the current import regulations.

The Master Customs Specialist (MCS) Certification designates its holders as possessing advanced knowledge and skills in U.S. Customs and its partner government agencies.

The Certified Export Specialist (CES) certification program is designed to help trade professionals in the export industry become competent and knowledgeable in current export regulations.

Designed for a broad audience, the 60-hour Master Export Specialist (MES) certificate program introduces an even higher level of excellence to our continuing education program.

Continuing Education

Continuing education is key to the mission of the NCBFAA Educational Institute (NEI). Once an individual has earned one of our four professional designations (CCS, MCS, CES, or MES), they must earn a specified number of continuing education credits each year in order to be eligible for recertification. Designees must both earn their continuing education credits and pay a renewal fee to maintain their designation annually.
