NCBFAA Webinar: In AI We Trust? Liability, Judgment, and Customs Brokers

Thursday, November 5 at 12 PM ET

Register here

For more information, please contact Rebecca Lazeration at webinars@ncbfaa.org.

Generative AI is already inside every brokerage, whether or not it's been "officially" adopted. This session gives licensed customs brokers and forwarders a clear, non-technical picture of what AI actually is (a fluency machine, not a truth machine) and where the law places responsibility when it gets customs work wrong. We'll cover the reasonable-care standard under 19 U.S.C. § 1484, brokers' responsible supervision and control obligations under 19 CFR Part 111, and how culpability tiers under §§ 1592 and 1641 change depending on whether AI use was supervised or not. We'll also look at two of 2026's landmark developments in AI liability law, including the UK Jurisdiction Taskforce's Legal Statement on Liability for AI Harms, and use the ongoing IEEPA tariff refund wave as a live case study in dividing machine work from judgment work. Attendees leave with three concrete, no-cost steps they can implement the following Monday.

Presenter

Hank Ze, Founder, Oulution US. Hank leads Oulution's US products, including its tariff-refund platform. He studies Applied Mathematics and Economics at Brown University, and has worked in investment banking, private equity, and search-fund investing across Boston, London, Hong Kong, and Beijing, where he built an AI-assisted diligence pipeline that cut analysis prep from six hours to one, with a human checking every output.

Continuing Education

Attendance to this webinar is worth 1 LCB/CCS/MCS credit. Attendees will receive instructions on how to claim their credit after the webinar has concluded.
