Headquartered in the Washington DC metro area, the NCBFAA represents more than 1500 member companies with 110,000 employees in international trade - the nation's leading freight forwarders, customs brokers, ocean transportation intermediaries (OTIs), NVOCCs and air cargo agents, serving more than 250,000 importers and exporters. The Association’s members handle more than 97% of the entries for goods imported into the United States and are directly involved with the logistics of these goods. Further, members operating as OTIs are involved with approximately 80 to 85% of all exports from the United States.

  • Cummins Sworn in as TSA Administrator

    Aug 7, 2026
    David Cummins on Friday, Aug. 7, was sworn in as Administrator of the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), following his recent confirmation by the U.S. Senate. In May 2026, President Trump nominated Cummins to head TSA and lead a workforce of approximately 60,000 employees and the security operations at more than 430 airports across the U.S.

  • Treasury Releases Current List of Countries Requiring Cooperation with International Boycott

    The Treasury Department on Aug. 10 published a current list of countries which require or may require participation in, or cooperation with, an international boycott, including Iraq, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Syria, and Yemen.

  • Temporary Restrictions for Exports of Black Mass and Tungsten Waste and Scrap

    Aug 7, 2026
    The Commerce Department’s Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) on Aug. 6 published a temporary final rule to restrict the export of black mass and tungsten waste and scrap without a Defense Priorities and Allocations System (DPAS) license. This rule is being issued in response to a Presidential Determination from July 30 that determined that the U.S. has an inadequate supply of critical minerals and materials (CMMs) which poses a risk to national defense and security.
