Headquartered in the Washington DC metro area, the NCBFAA represents more than 1,200 member companies with 110,000 employees in international trade - the nation's leading freight forwarders, customs brokers, ocean transportation intermediaries (OTIs), NVOCCs and air cargo agents, serving more than 250,000 importers and exporters. The Association’s members handle more than 97% of the entries for goods imported into the United States and are directly involved with the logistics of these goods. Further, members operating as OTIs are involved with approximately 80 to 85% of all exports from the United States.

  • Customs Broker 2024 Permit User Fee Payment Due by Feb. 9

    Dec 4, 2023
    Customs and Border Protection (CBP) in a Nov. 27 Federal Register notice announced the annual user fee that is assessed for each permit held by a customs broker, whether it may be an individual, partnership, association, or corporation, is due no later than Feb. 9, 2024.

  • CBP Issues Clarification Regarding Countries Using Euro

    Dec 4, 2023
    Importers entering goods from the European Union euro area may continue to use other currencies besides the euro. However, Customs and Border Protection (CBP) said shipments from the euro area “may not use a prior national currency (franc, German mark, lira, etc.) instead of the euro on their entry paperwork.”

  • FDA Provides New Tools to Trade for Food Traceability Rule

    Dec 4, 2023
    The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) rolled out new tools to assist the trade in complying with the Food Traceability Rule. The rule requires persons who manufacture, process, pack, or hold certain foods to track key data elements and critical steps throughout the supply chain.
