The 30-Day Clock: Getting Your Book of Business Ready for CBP's New IOR Rules Thu, Oct 22, 2026 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM EDT Free CBP has started verifying the accuracy of Importer of Record data on Form 5106 — and inaccurate submissions can void an IOR number immediately. Brokers who filed that data are exposed to penalties under 19 U.S.C. § 1641 and, where duties are involved, the False Claims Act.
The standard is now explicit: a POA executed directly with the IOR, a physical address that belongs to the importer, a valid email and phone that are theirs, and diligence you can prove you performed.
