Customs and Border Protection (CBP) will launch Phase 2 of the ACE Truck Manifest Modernization (TMM) on June 5. Specifically, this phase of the implementation will focus on enhancing the CBP user interface (UI) for the primary and secondary processing of truck manifests.

To increase availability of infant formula, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) outlined the procedures for processing certain infant formula products from specific overseas companies which will be afforded enforcement discretion. Beginning July 1, the USDA’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) will require importers of earthworms to obtain a PPQ 526 pest permit. APHIS PPQ will only issue permits for earthworms from countries that are free from foot-and-mouth disease. The permit requires strict compliance with conditions related to the rearing and shipping of earthworms.

DEA officials recently visited several local customs broker associations to spread the word about importer and exporter requirements under the Controlled Substances Act with particular emphasis on chemicals that can be used to manufacture fentanyl.
