    NCBFAA supports the reintroduction of the BEST Facilitation Act by Sens. James Lankford (R-OK) and Mark Kelly (D-AZ) and Rep. Juan Ciscomani (R-AZ) in the 119th Congress. The bill would create regional command centers where Customs and Border Protection (CBP) image technicians can review the images generated by NII scans.

  • New ILA Contract for US East and Gulf Coast Ports Nears Finalization

    Feb 14, 2025
    The International Longshoremen’s Association (ILA) Wage Scale Committee on Feb. 7 unanimously approved the new six-year contract with the United States Maritime Alliance (USMX). A ratification vote by the full ILA membership is scheduled for Feb. 25, and then USMX will vote on the contract ratification.

  • BIS Rescinds Artificial Intelligence Diffusion Rule

    May 15, 2025
    The Commerce Department’s Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) has rescinded the AI Diffusion Rule that was issued on Jan. 15, 2025, and was take effect May 15, 2025. BIS does plan to publish a regulation that will formalize the rescission of the existing rule, as well as issue a replacement rule in the future.

    The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has now launched Self-Registration for the eFiling Product Registry voluntary stage. This allows importers and customs brokers to participate in the program ahead of the mandatory eFiling date of July 1, 2026.
