Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has moved resources that were previously stored under “ACE Features” to “How to Use the Automated Commercial Environment (ACE).”

Sens. Gary Peters (D-MI) and John Cornyn (R-TX) announced on April 28 their reintroduction of bipartisan legislation to strengthen border security and increase Customs and Border Protection (CBP) staffing at ports of entry. The Securing America’s Ports of Entry Act (S. 1253) would fully staff America’s airports, seaports, and land ports-of-entry by requiring CBP to hire no less than 600 additional officers a year until the agency’s staffing needs are met.

“In April, CBP led many engagements to share information with and receive input from private companies, partner government agencies and foreign governments. The decision paves the way for these agencies to move forward with the reorganization and reduction-in-force plans, as required by Executive Order 14210 issued in March. The reorganization plans have been on hold since the May 2 injunction.

U.S. Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins on July 9 announced an immediate shutdown of livestock imports from Mexico after a new world screwworm (NWS) case was reported north of the previous infestations. The announcement came just days after a risk-based phased port reopening strategy for cattle, bison and equine began.
