The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) announced they will extend the current temporary suspension of imported dogs from countries at high risk for enzootic rabies. The extension will continue for one year, through July 31, 2024.

The Federal Maritime Commission (FMC) on July 13 issued an advisory reminding common carriers, including vessel-operating common carriers (VOCCs), that they “must meet their compliance obligations” when doing business with non-vessel-operating common carriers (NVOCCs) and ocean freight forwarders (OFFs).

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) on Aug. 7 plant inspection stations (PIS) will begin a phased rollout of the use of Entry Status Notifications (SO70/71/72) messages to communicate directly with filers.
