CONECT: Pharmaceuticals & Chemicals Tariff Classification Seminar (Virtual)
A full day chemical classification seminar with exercises to reinforce concepts. The program will include basic guidance and hands-on practice on classifying chemicals in the U.S. Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) Chapters 28, 29 and drugs in Chapter 30, mixtures, classifying drugs and placebos including classification of compound libraries.
Other topics include:
• Overview of General Rules of Interpretation and application to chemical chapters
• Definitions of chemistry terms necessary for classification Chemical and Pharmaceutical Appendices
Agenda:
1) Reasonable care, knowing your product and Special Invoice Requirements for chemicals
2) Mixtures vs. separate chemically defined compounds
3) Isomers
4) Organic vs. inorganic
5) Chap 28 – brief discussion of acids, hydroxides, oxides and salts which are important to understand for Ch. 29.
6) Ch. 29 – review meaning of headings with some examples of structures to illustrate concepts.
