Cyber Security and Downtime
As crucial as digital technology is to global trade, implementing cybersecurity and downtime policies and procedures is just as crucial.  Downtime, whether due to cyber incidents or system failures, can lead to delays in cargo movement, compliance issues, and diminished customer trust.  Thus, having a plan and understanding the various government agencies’ expectations and procedures is imperative to mitigate risks.  For example, freight forwarders, NVOCCs, IACs, do you have policies in place if you aren’t able to file a EEIs in AES or cut a HBLs/HAWBs for an extended period?  Brokers, do you have policies in place if you aren’t able to transmit entries for an extended period of time?  Join us as we look at best practice suggestions for freight forwarders and brokers and hear from Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and Census.

This panel will address new challenges to the customs broker/importer relationship, from obtaining a power of attorney to termination of a broker/importer relationship, as the new regulations place additional requirements on brokers. The evolution of expectations for brokers such as Reasonable Care versus Responsible Supervision and Control and knowing “what is in the box?”.
