The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) is reaching out to manufacturers and importers to warn about the increased incidence of fires or other overheating events involving "micromobility products.”

Customs and Border Protection (CBP) on Dec. 16 announced the Jan. 9 launch date for the Document Imaging System (DIS) Pilot for Used Self-Propelled Vehicles (USPV) Export Document Submission.

To assist customs brokers, CBP has provided this Quick Reference Guide (QRG) for the National Broker Permit changes and a Quick Reference Card (QRC) for the Broker Reporting changes in the modernized ACE Portal are available on the ACE Training and Reference Guides webpage on CBP.gov.

The Transportation Department’s Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) on Dec. 21 published its final rule revising the Hazardous Materials Regulations for lithium cells and batteries transported by aircraft. The rule becomes effective Jan. 20.

Effective Jan. 1, administration of CBMA benefits for imported merchandise entered, or withdrawn from warehouse, for consumption on and after Jan. 1 transfers to the Treasury Department, specifically the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB).

The Federal Maritime Commission (FMC) announced on Dec. 15 that has asked the top 20 shipping lines calling the U.S. to provide information on how they are complying with the new prohibitions on retaliation established by the Ocean Shipping Reform Act of 2022 (OSRA).

FIATA reminds air freight forwarders that new European Union (EU) requirements will enter into force under Implementing Regulation (EU) 2025/920, effective Sept. 1. These requirements apply to Regulated Agents (RAs), which are entities formally approved by the competent EU authority to apply security controls to cargo.
