Headquartered in the Washington DC metro area, the NCBFAA represents more than 1422+ member companies with 110,000 employees in international trade - the nation's leading freight forwarders, customs brokers, ocean transportation intermediaries (OTIs), NVOCCs and air cargo agents, serving more than 250,000 importers and exporters. The Association’s members handle more than 97% of the entries for goods imported into the United States and are directly involved with the logistics of these goods. Further, members operating as OTIs are involved with approximately 80 to 85% of all exports from the United States.

  • NCBFAA Customs Committee Monitors Supreme Court IEEPA Tariff Cases Review, Capitol Hill Visit Follow-ups, and CBP Tariff Guidance

    The NCBFAA Customs Committee and Counsel of Sandler, Travis & Rosenberg, P.A., are closely monitoring the Supreme Court’s Sept. 9 order to take up on an expedited schedule, two of the court challenges to the IEEPA tariffs imposed by the Trump Administration, as well as association inroads made with lawmakers and their staff on Capitol Hill during NCBFAA Government Affairs Conference on Sept. 9, requesting support for advance notification and transparency related to imposed tariffs. The committee and counsel also continue to track the latest CBP IEEPA tariff guidance and provide updates to NCBFAA members as soon as they’re received.

  • CBP Adds Qualified Parties to Pay Duty on International Mail Shipments

    Customs and Border Protection (CBP) on Friday, Sept. 12, published an updated list of qualified parties who are eligible to pay duties on international mail shipments, as per Executive Order 14324 of July 30, “Suspending Duty-Free De Minimis Treatment for All Countries,” which took effect Aug. 29. The Executive Order effectively ended de minimis duty-free treatment under 19 U.S.C. § 1321(a)(2)(C) for all shipments entering the U.S., including via international mail.

  • NCBFAA Welcomed Multiple PGAs to GAC

    NCBFAA members experienced a rich exchange of ideas with an array of Partner Government Agencies (PGAs) at the Government Affairs Conference (GAC) in Washington, D.C. Officials from the Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS), Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS), and USDA Organics — all took part in an informative and lively conversation with NCBFAA on Sept. 8 and a special meeting with the Regulatory Agencies Committee (RAC) on Sept. 10.

CPB Detroit Field Office hosting the 13ᵗʰ Annual Trade Day

U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Field Operations – Detroit Field Office will behosting the 13ᵗʰ Annual Trade Day at Huntington Place in Detroit, MI on Wednesday, August 7, 2024 from 8:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. The registration table will be open starting at 7:30 a.m. with halldoors opening at 8:00 a.m.

This event shall provide the trade community and those interested in the importing/exporting process an opportunity to interact with CBP personnel, Detroit Field Office trade staff, Canadian Government Officials, and a multitude of representatives from Partner Government Agencies (PGA). Trade Day 2024 will provide participants with the opportunity to communicate one-on- one with government representatives who are responsible for enforcing various trade laws while still processing/facilitating trade.

Demonstrations and formal presentations and shall be given throughout the day providing information on current programs and policies relating to the import and export of merchandise. An agenda listing presentations shall be provided to registered attendees as the event date approaches. Participants are encouraged to bring their questions as they will have access to presenters who will be able to address a multitude of inquires including, but not limited to, policies, procedures, current initiatives, and regulations relating to trade operations.

New this year, attendees may sign up for one-on-one meetings with representatives of the Detroit Field Office ports of entry, the Automotive & Aerospace Center of Excellence and Expertise, and other Centers of Excellence and Expertise. These meetings shall be scheduled the day of the event on a first come, first served basis, in 10-minute increments.

Advance registration for this free event shall be open until August 2, 2024 by emailing the attached spreadsheet with your information to the Trade Team at dfotradeoperations@cbp.dhs.gov
