Headquartered in the Washington DC metro area, the NCBFAA represents more than 1,300 member companies with 110,000 employees in international trade - the nation's leading freight forwarders, customs brokers, ocean transportation intermediaries (OTIs), NVOCCs and air cargo agents, serving more than 250,000 importers and exporters. The Association’s members handle more than 97% of the entries for goods imported into the United States and are directly involved with the logistics of these goods. Further, members operating as OTIs are involved with approximately 80 to 85% of all exports from the United States.

  • GAO Commences Assessment of U.S. Airport Cargo Operations

    With the signing of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Reauthorization legislation by President Biden on May 20, the Government Accountability Office (GAO) is expected to immediately commence with a large-scale assessment of airport cargo operations across the U.S., including a section dedicated to issues with truck delays and inadequate infrastructure.

Sub-note (a) was discussed in the last webinar series and in this series, sub-note (b) will be discussed.

Wednesday, June 5, 2024: What is Builders’ Joinery and Carpentry of Wood (Heading 4418) – The “What is Builders’ Joinery and Carpentry of Wood (Heading 4418)” is part of the 2024 Educations Commodity Specific Webinar Series hosted by the National Commodity Specialist Division, Regulations and Rulings, Office of Trade.  What is Builders’ Joinery and Carpentry of Wood (Heading 4418) will be an explanation of what the language “Builders’ joinery and carpentry of wood” means and when heading 4418 is used instead of other headings. It is “green” in that it addresses products of wood, i.e., forest products.

Thursday, June 13, 2024: Heading 8472 – Other Office Machines – The “Heading 8472 - Other Office Machines” is part of the 2024 Educations Commodity Specific Webinar Series hosted by the National Commodity Specialist Division, Regulations and Rulings, Office of Trade. This webinar will discuss the classification of offices machine that fall within heading 8472. Also, will give examples of types of machines that do not fall within the heading, by virtue of exclusions. 

Tuesday, June 18, 2024: Raising Your Knowledge of Jacks and Lifts – The “Raise Your Knowledge of Jacks and Lifts” is part of the 2024 Educations Commodity Specific Webinar Series hosted by the National Commodity Specialist Division, Regulations and Rulings, Office of Trade. The webinar will discuss the classification of various kinds of vehicle lifts and explain how they fit into either heading 8425 or 8428. At the same time, we will go over the various nuances of each heading. Also, will briefly go over CBP’s green trade initiative and touch upon how the public can get involved.
