NCBFAA Enrolls Deputy Commissioner Ahern As Honorary Certified Customs Specialist (CCS)
During its recent Government Affairs Conference (GAC) here, National Customs Brokers and Forwarders Association of America, Inc. (NCBFAA) President Mary Jo Muoio joined by NCBFAA Educational Institute Chairman Robert Perkins enrolled Customs and Border Protection Deputy Commissioner Jayson Ahern as an honorary Certified Customs Specialist (CCS). Every year NCBFAA members convene at the GAC, to present their views on industry issues to Congress, raise awareness of the economic importance of the logistics transportation industry and demonstrate their grassroots strength.
“NCBFAA recognizes Deputy Commissioner Ahern’s knowledge and expertise on the matters of customs and confers upon him the designation of Honorary Certified Customs Specialist,” said President Muoio. “This puts him in the company of many other individuals who have demonstrated a commitment to professionalism and on-going learning in customs and trade.”
The NCBFAA Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) Program is a 6-month distance-learning program, available in hard copy with on-line activities. The CCS qualification is becoming the new standard in the customs marketplace – recognized, and demanded, by those who use brokerage services throughout the country. This distance education course is paper based with an on-line component designed for the adult learner who is interested in pursuing a career where customs knowledge is essential and where recertification has both personal and professional value and recognition.
Headquartered in Washington, DC, the NCBFAA represents nearly 800 member companies with 100,000 employees in international trade - the nation's leading freight forwarders, customs brokers, ocean transportation intermediaries (OTIs), NVOCCs and air cargo agents, serving more than 250,000 importers and exporters. Established in 1897 in New York, NCBFAA is the effective national voice of the industry. Through its various committees, counsel and representatives, the Association maintains a close watch over legislative and regulatory issues that affect its members. It keeps them informed of these and other related issues through its weekly Monday Morning eBriefing, NCBFAA Quarterly Bulletin, and various meetings and conferences throughout the year.
