Ms. Armelagos graduated with honors from Adrian College in 1981 with a Bachelor of Science in Accountancy. She began her industry career in 1978 while employed by her father's customs brokerage firm in Fort Lauderdale, FL. After successfully passing the CPA exam in 1983, she went on to utilize those skills as a licensed Customs Broker, after mastering the exam in 1985. Then, in 1993, she became what proved to be an integral part of the Wilson UTC, Inc., (currently Geodis Wilson USA, Inc.), start-up team by launching the import department in Detroit. Within a few years she advanced to office manager, followed by Branch Manager, of what is now one of the most profitable Geodis Wilson, USA, Inc. offices nationwide.
As an active member of the National Customs Brokers & Forwarders Association of America, Inc., she began her industry volunteer service when elected as the NCBFAA Area 5 Board of Directors from 1995 to 2003.
She also served as treasurer of the Detroit Customs Brokers & Freight Forwarders Association from 1996-1999, and was then elected President of the DCBFFA until 2005, and currently serves as Chairman of the Board.
Marie was honored when selected to serve on the NCBFAA Customs Committee representing Area 5 for a term of four years, and as one of the founding co-chairs of the NCBFAA Educational Institute launched in 2004, she currently remains on the NEI Content Committee. As Chair of the NCBFAA Audit Committee, she recently completed a comprehensive multi-year audit process template that includes the new 990 Governance guidelines.
