Washington, DC:

In a letter to Senators Max Baucus and Orrin G. Hatch, the National Customs Brokers and Forwarders Association of America, Inc. (NCBFAA) joined with 10 other national organizations to strongly endorse the renomination of Alan D. Bersin to be Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Commissioner. Commissioner Bersin was originally nominated on September 29, 2009, and has been serving as a recess appointment since March 27, 2010.
In their letter, the signers cited Commissioner Bersins outreach to the private sector, his advocacy of a modernized CBP and his commitment to enhanced security along with trade facilitation as reasons for approving his nomination.
“Customs and Border Protection needs a dynamic leader that is capable of transformative leadership skills to appropriately modernize and change the agency for the betterment of security and trade,” they wrote. “Mr. Bersin is this dynamic leader. He has already set in motion meaningful change and his leadership is needed to ensure this continues.”
