The Trump Administration has used several statutes to impose tariffs or quotas on imports, including those by close allies.  These statutory mechanisms include Section 232 of the Trade Expansion Act of 1962 and Section 301 of the Trade Act of 1974 but the President has even threatened Mexico and U.S. companies that don’t bring manufacturing back to the U.S. with tariffs under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA), a law normally used in the export control context.  Learn how President Trump has utilized tariffs to achieve his trade policy goals, how it is affecting your customers’ business and how you can help them get relief from these onerous taxes.

Hear from Christine McDaniel, Senior Research Fellow with the Mercatus Center Program on the American Economy and Globalization about the data she has been collecting on Section 232 and 301 tariffs and the exclusion processes. Evelyn M. Suarez, Esq., Founder and Principal of the Suarez Firm will talk about these laws and their limits and her experience helping clients mitigate the harm from the extra taxes.
