Nearly Half of Reassigned Southern Border Operations Officers Return

Todd Owen, Executive Assistant Commissioner, Office of Field Operations, at U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), announced that as of August 9, a total of 331 CBP Officers who were deployed to the southern border to help with the migrant crisis have returned to their original permanent duty stations. There are still 400 CBP Officers left to assist border patrol. Owen said that the agency will continue to monitor the crisis and hopes to be able to draw down the remaining officers as appropriate.
