barbara reilly, Executive Vice President, NCBFAAChicagoland native barbara reilly joined NCBFAA as Executive Vice President following more than 17 years as Executive Vice President of the Florida Customs Brokers and Forwarders Association (FCBF).During that time, she helped build FCBF into the nation’s largest statewide organization of its kind. Ms. reilly’s career in association management came on the heels of working in international trade. Just three years after settling in Florida during the late seventies, she eagerly participated in various community and industry organizations, one of which was the FCBF, where while working with a global freight forwarding company, she was a member of the Board of Directors, and chaired the Air Freight and Publication Committees. After accepting the position of executive director in 1981, barbara opened the first fully staffed FCBF office. Then, she concentrated on developing programs designed to expand the organization's revenue base, improve membership services and increase retention throughout the state. Most notably, she accomplished significant gains in FCBF’s public influence, especially in Washington with Florida’s Congressional delegation, and later in the Florida Statehouse. Throughout the years, she has remained active and influential in international trade, eagerly tapping the expertise of various industrial, regulatory and political leaders and organizations from the "warehouse to the White House" as she brought that same FCBF enthusiasm and commitment to relationship-development to her position at NCBFAA in Washington, DC. Before leaving Florida for her new position, Ms. reilly received the Commissioner of Customs Recognition Award as well as a Proclamation of Recognition from the Miami Dade County Mayor. After arriving in Washington, the White House appointed her to the Y2K Task Force. She also received the Pioneer in International Trade Transportation in 2000 and, in 2008, the names of all the Pioneers, including hers, were added to the Florida Foreign Trade Association (FFTA) monument at the Port of Miami. In 2009, Ms. reilly was honored to be named named a Charter member – the first and only woman inductee to date - of the FCBF Hall of Fame. In January 2010, she successfully completed the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) arduous Certified Association Executive (CAE) program, which is shared by less than 5% of industry professionals of over 10,000 organizations, and designates those who have completed the higher education, work experience, and professional development studies identified by the CAE Commission as essential to the chief staff executive role, including association law, governance, advocacy and other association leadership and management roles. Building on her achievements, she looks forward to exciting new challenges as the administrative head of a national trade association that articulates and addresses the concerns of its industry membership with the assistance of her steadfast, dedicated staff. |
